The EOS 5D Mark II is the first digital EOS to offer recording of Full HD video in Live View Mode. Thanks to improved noise reduction technologies, images shot even at highest sensitivity will be remarkably smooth. And since it is full-frame, all lenses will deliver the angle of view they would on a 35mm camera without a conversion factor. A 21.1-megapixel CMOS sensor delivers images of up to 5616 x 3744 pixels. The EOS 5D Mark II features a huge, full-frame sensor. If I could have just one modification to this great camera it would be to add a lock to the Mode Dial. And while this may not be a problem for a studio or landscape photographer, a working fireground is another matter entirely. Way too often I find that in the hussle of the action one of the cameras has rubbed against something that changed the setting without me noticing. I often hit a fire scene in a hurry, pulling on my protective gear, pulling out cameras and going to work. My one gripe with the 5D Mark II is that the Mode Dial lacks a lock feature and that little omission is my biggest source of grief. My work involves everything from documenting the fire scene and firefighting activities to forensic photos when needed. fire or crash call comes in I am dispatched with the engine companies. I am a fire department photographer and on a pager 24X7.

Now that I include a 5D Mark II I only add the XL-1s when I know the conditions will require it. I also carry a Canon XL-1s for video work, or, I should say, I used to. I have always had excellent results from both the camera's and lenses, and still do. I have Used Canon systems for 35mm for many years including going digital some years back and have several bodies and a number of lenses in the bags I carry with me at all times. Very important for night shots, this has very low noise at high ISO's!!! View full Review Seems fairly watertight, and dust-worthy.

#CANON MARK 5D II WEIGHT MOVIE#
A very cool camera, haven't used the movie mode yet, because I didn't by a huge memory card yet. If you use a 5D Mark II, you better have a computer with some powerful memory to process the large files efficiently as they are huge and made my laptop choke until I upgraded the memory. I think the 1D Mark II will still be my main sports camera, because 8.2 megapixels can shoot much faster than 21. I am very happy to have purchased this camera, but have only used it for these two styles.
#CANON MARK 5D II WEIGHT SKIN#
The Picture Style features are cool, as you can set it for Portraits, giving a softer feel with perfect skin tones or put it in Landscape mode and capture rich blues and greens. u could spot them in this shot from about 100 miles away, taken with a 200mm lens on a 1.4 converter (about 280 mm equivelent). I just did a panorama of Alaska's Denali Range by shooting ten verticals and merging them in Photoshop's CS4 and the grass blades in the foreground to the summit of Denali are beautifullly crisp, have perfect contrast and if there were climber's on the mountain, yo. 21 megapixels are absolutely amazing for making quality large prints. I been shooting photojournalism with a EOS 1D-Mark II for several years and purchased the 5D-Mark II, basically for the portrait and landscape resolution factor.
